Welcome to Blue Centauri Consulting: design, development and consulting by Sarah K Tyler since 2002. With a profession in computers, a minor in creative writing and a background in art, Blue Centauri is the perfect blend of creativity and insight. While I no longer have time to do consulting, I still enjoy sharing knowledge. To this end, I continue to work on tools and tips for other designers.

What are people saying about Sarah:
"Sarah is not only been a pleasure to work with on a technical level, but on a personal level as well. She is one of those rare people who is truly a nice person. Her sunny personality makes her someone who is easy to work with, even as critical deadlines loom and pressure builds."

I believe in Elegance

A website is only as beautiful as it's source code. Code written rashly is far more expensive to maintain, monitor and update than anything well thought out. Pieces should fit together seamlessly though well designed interfaces. No matter what the complexity, good code is readable by all not just a few. My strive for elegance as well as excellence is one of the reasons my tools and scripts have become so popular throughout the community.

I believe in Honesty

Blue Centauri Consulting is a one-woman operation. I devote an enormous amount of time and energy into all my endeavors and take great pride in my accomplishments. Yet, because of natural limitations, Blue Centauri can not accommodate every request we get.

I believe in Uniqueness

One thing that separates Blue Centauri Consulting from generic online consulting agencies is my dual interest in both technology and artistry, implementation and appearance, code and words. I am one who pours through design books, hones my creative writing skills in workshops and codes on the weekends for fun.

I believe in Personal Growth

Even with 16 years of experience under my belt, I still enjoy the growth a new project brings. Technology is always evolving, and so must any developer. I will often take on a project for the purpose of personal growth or community benefit rather than financial gain. Check out the quote page for more information about what this may mean for your project.

I believe in Community

There is a common saying in research: stand on the shoulders of giants. Rather than reinvent, one builds on the insights of others with one's own ideas. One of the ways I first learned to code was by adapting the code of others to suit my needs. With this in mind I distribute tools and advice freely. Please feel free to take a good idea you see here and make it great. If you would like to see something here, I strongly encourage you to request it.
